Happy New Year!

JANUARY 2008 Event:

Due to the cold damp weather let's plan on meeting up at th Lexi Dog for the free (they accept $1 or so donations) small dog play group. Small dogs from 30lbs and under are from 12:00-1:30 pm (Rosko is 31 lbs...it's all muscle!). Here is the link: http://www.lexidog.com/playgroup.php.

Please send me your ideas for future meetups. Anyone interested in another Frenchie Art day in February? We could work on our valentines and sip French wine. Or we could have a beauty/spa day....okay so we could bath and groom them at a local shop to get them ready for their valentines. Any thoughts while it's so dreary out?

p.s. I did receive a receipt for our donations and they wrote all of the check numbers on the copy. Please let me know if you would like a copy for tax purposes. For those that donated cash this could work too. They bundled it all together but you could claim what you gave and offer the receipt for documentation.

DECEMBER 2007:

I am so happy to report that our group raised so far $400 for the no kill shelter, Family Dogs New Life http://www.familydogsnewlife.org/main.aspx. Thank you to all and many thanks to Dave for, once again, donating his talents and time for this great cause.

PHOTOS SO FAR FROM DECEMBER BENEFIT......HERE IS DAVE'S NOTE

Hi all!
Thanks for coming out to help the dogs at Family Dogs on Sunday! I have a first cut of images up at:
www.DavidChildsPhotography.com/FrenchBullDogClub07
I'll probably be adding a few more images later in the week. But I wanted to make sure to get a first cut of images up since I know some of you have Christmas card deadlines coming up. If you don't see an image you were expecting/hoping for let me know and I'll also let everyone know once I'm done adding images to the web for this. You're more than welcome to send the link on the anyone you'd like and feel free to print the images on the web. And let me know if you'd like a larger version of any images and I'll email you them - they'll be 1MB or larger so be ready for largish files :)
Also let me know if you'd be interested in doing a private shoot sometime. These Christmas shoots are a lot of fun. But obviously they are very quick and staged. My normal shoots fit closer to a documentary style. In those shoots I take my time and let everyone get comfortable so they look and act themselves. Where possible I like to go to a few locations that the "model" is especially fond of- parks, by the water, at home, where-ever they have fun. I do sometimes use some very portable lights and some other gear to help add some punch to the images while allowing me to stay very flexible and "in the moment". But my main goal is to get you images that show off your friends personality and with luck even some of their fun quirks. I've got more information on my website (www.DavidChildsPhotography.com) which talks about my typical approach. But please email me or call to talk if you have questions, ideas or a different approach that would work best in your situation. I'm offering your group 20% off as thanks for your support of Family Dogs.
Thanks again and hope you enjoy the images!
Dave

FOR DECEMBER:

For those of you that are new or may have not participated last year. A friend of ours who is a professional photographer volunteered to take holiday photos and we all made donations (whatever you would like) to a no-kill animal shelter. It is called Family Dogs New Life and here is their website: http://www.familydogsnewlife.org/main.aspx. Please come and help out those puppies that are not as fortunate as our Frenchies! All donations are tax deductible.

Dave is excited to help out again this year. It was so nice of him! He gave us all the picture files for free. He is also offering private sessions at 20% for our group throughout the year and he will make prints for you are at a discounted price if you are interested.

Pumpkin Patch Costume Strut

Let's meet at the Pumpkin Patch at Sauvie's Island for some pictures with our Frenchies and the Pumpkins. http://thepumpkinpatch.com/
Don't forget your costumes :)

PLEASE NOTE TIME CHANGE....I spoke with them at the Pumpkin Patch. Dogs are welcome as long as they are on a leash and we pick up their poo. Things get a bit crazy as the day goes along so she recommended that we come right when they open at 9am. Let's meet at entrance under the archway and then we can head over to the patch and take pictures and pick out a pumpkin or two. I think they would be allowed on the hay rides in our laps too if you are interested.

So last month was about us so I guess we should have an event that it about them this time ;)

Let's plan on meeting at the park this month and let them run around.

Please let me know if you would have any interest for the October meetup in having a pumpkin patch event (maybe at Sauvie's Island?) Costumes definitely welcome! Perhaps we can ask our friend who is a professional photographer to come and take photos.

Hi!

Okay so this month it's all about us :)

As requested we are changing the date to this Sunday and will plan to meet at the Lucky Lab. There is an outdoor covered patio area next to the parking area that is dog friendly. They have a good menu and good beer.

Mimosa is going to open their doors for us (before they officially open) so we can have a private Frenchie art session. They specialize in paw print bowls, etc. You can paint your own art and then they will "cook" it for you.

Hope you can all make it! Here is thier website www.mimosa-studios.com. Please bring your poop bags and water bowls as we will need to clean up after ourselves. All are welcome! Please RSVP.

p.s. We have the store reserved from 10:00-11:30 am. This will give them time to clean up before they officially open at noon.
